ECO-PRO
IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT

Manure management is a growing concern among livestock and dairy producers worldwide. The need to reduce odors and implement good management practices has never been higher. ECO-PRO is an environmentally safe method of controlling solids and odor using naturally-occurring bacteria to treat waste.

The bubbling action means ECO-PRO is hard at work.

ECO-PRO reduces manure solids
* less agitation time
* lowers clean out expenses
* no need for special equipment

ECO-PRO reduces manure odor
* more cost effective than other treatments
* ahead of regulatory compliances
* reduces likelihood of complaints

ECO-PRO is environmentally safe
* utilizes natural bacteria
* safe to handle and store
* chemical free

ECO-PRO
IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT

Frequently Asked Questions What is ECO-PRO?
ECO-PRO contains bacteria which are live microorganisms that breakdown and degrade a wide variety of organic wastes through digestion. Byproducts of this process are water and natural carbon dioxide, however, enzymes are also produced which serve as a means to speed digestion. Bacteria attach to solid particles, secrete enzymes, and start to eat and can multiply at a very fast rate when well fed, doubling in number every 10 to 15 minutes. As long as organic waste is present to feed the bacterial population they will multiply.

What is the theory behind using bacteria to treat waste?
In general terms, the practice is called bacterial seeding and is common in municipal wastewater treatment systems. The objective is to supplement the naturally-occurring bacteria with strains selected to specifically help accelerate and improve the efficiency of the treatment process. This concept is not intended to replace existing bacteria but rather to facilitate a slow shift in the overall microbial population. Ongoing reseeding is required based on incoming flow in order to maintain an effective quantity of beneficial bacteria.

How doe ECO-PRO affect solids and odor?
The bacteria in ECO-PRO accelerate digestion and liquefy the solids making it easier to agitate, pump and irrigate. A lagoon treated with ECO-PRO can be pumped with reduced frequency as well as be pumped lower due to less plugging issues. Because solids are predigested, treated manure will soak into the soil more quickly with less chance of caking on the field surface after transferring to cropland. Manure treated with ECO-PRO contains a less offensive odor. In fact, by increasing the activity level of bacteria in the manure or lagoon, ECO-PRO actually mitigates foul odors from the outset.

How does ECO-PRO help reduce odor?
Volatile Fatty Acids (VFA) which are formed from the soluble material are closely associated with the production of odors by their conversion into biogas (partly methane) by methane-generating bacteria. In warm climates, this process happens year round, whereas in cooler climates the VFA accumulate and are released during the warm season. Regardless of climate and seasonality, ECO-PRO has proven effective in reducing the concentration of those odor-contributing VFA.

Does the manure treated with ECO-PRO have more value to crop production?
Yes. Due to the digestion process, much of the nitrogen in the manure is retained by being bound up in the cells of the bacteria that have been growing in the waste material. This organic form of nitrogen will be released to a growing crop as the bacteria slowly breakdown in the soil. Crops can be harmed with untreated manure when over applied due to the high levels of ammonia and other fast acting nitrogen. In this way, ECO-PRO stabilizes waste nutrients and is the primary reason odors are ever prevented from forming.

Will ECO-PRO work in frozen climates?
Yes. Just like VFA that continue to accumulate in harsh winter climates, ECO-PRO remains active even under the ice.

ECO-PRO
ECO-PRO IMPROVING THE ENVIRONMENT
An all-natural, industrial grade maintenance product formulated to reduce odor and act as a digesting agent in the decomposition of a wide variety of organic wastes.

PRODUCT FEATURES
• Designed to control odor by converting anaerobic condition into an aerobic condition resulting in odorless byproducts of O2, CO2 and H2O instead of the septic odor discharged as ammonia and hydrogen sulfate.
• Concentrated source of hydrolytic (degrading) bacteria and enzymes capable of digesting certain organic polymers, thus helping to liquefy organic accumulations.
• Positively affects the solubility of manures, starches and proteins by digesting these organic waste materials.
• Environmentally safe. • Accelerates the decomposition process when used in composting operations.
• Non-corrosive, non-hazardous, non-pathogenic.
• Active throughout pH range of 5.5 to 9.0; optimal pH range is 6.5 to 7.5.
• Optimal temperature range for microorganisms is 50-100°F.
• Product range pH 6.6 - 7.2
• Specific gravity: 1.03

FOR BEST RESULTS
• Ensure tank is free of residue. If using chlorinated water, let tank sit for 24 hours (with lid removed) before mixing.
• Do not apply when a crop is severely stressed.
• May be mixed with 2-4-D herbicides.
• Clean sprayer and nozzles thoroughly with water or soap mixture (do not use anti-bacterial).

INGREDIENTS A broad and diverse population of live, naturally occurring, beneficial water/soil microorganisms including: Bacillus sp., Pseudomonas sp., Arthrobacter sp., Rhodococcus sp., Chlorobium sp., Cyanbacteria sp., and Actinomycetes sp.

RECOMMENDED APPLICATIONS
COMPOST STARTER
• Apply 16 ounces of Eco-Pro per ton (2 cubic yards) of compost material.
• Mix Eco-Pro with water to achieve moisture range of 45-60%. Apply early in the composting process.
• Use normal watering practices to maintain sufficient moisture of the compost.
For field application: Apply directly to crop residue at a rate of 1 gallon per 100 gallons of water for up to 10 acres. Apply as soon after harvest as possible.

WASTE LAGOONS
• Initial treatment: Apply 2 gallons per surface acre of lagoon or 16 ounces treats 3,000 cubic feet (approximately 22,500 gallons).
• Maintenance treatment: Treat daily with one gallon per surface acre.
• As more waste is added more Eco-Pro will need to be added.
• 1-gallon minimum treatment for small lagoons.
• Treatment may vary due to feeding program and size of lagoons.
• Mix Eco-Pro with water and spray over area to be treated. If possible, distribute over the entire surface; do not pour on just one area.
• Use a spray applicator to achieve even distribution of Eco-Pro in the lagoon.
• Agitation is very helpful.

MANURE COLLECTING TANKS
• Initial treatment: Use one (1) gallon for each 2,000 cubic feet (15,000-16,000 gallon capacity) every four (4) days for the first month.
• Maintenance treatment: Add one-half gallon per 2,000 cubic feet weekly or whenever manure is added.

STORAGE CONDITIONS REQUIRED
• Product is best stored under 90°F. and is stable for up to 1 year when stored as directed. Keep container closed tightly.
