FEATURES AND BENEFITS Host specific bacteria create a higher level of activity and more efficient nutrient utilization by the animal. Natural plant extracts, in combination with beneficial bacterial growth, help to increase nitrogen retention by the host animal, thereby reducing blood and milk urea nitrogen levels. This results in greater milk production and improved reproductive efficiency. Live cell yeast serves as a source of enzymes and B vitamins, enhancing the number of fiber digesting bacteria in the animal, which in turn improves the digestion of fiber in the diet. In recent years, the use of yeast in the animal feed industry has continued to grow with a significantly greater number of industry professionals taking the concept of yeast supplementation more seriously. Potential benefits associated with the use of yeast in livestock and dairy rations include improved weight gain, milk production, feed consumption, and yield of milk components. The degree of benefit obtained from feeding yeast appears to be greatest when animals are under the most stress. Live yeast cells have a direct stimulatory effect on rumen bacteria, and live cells appear to be necessary for yeast to be metabolically active in the rumen.
